Lake & Mountain Living
Kootenay Lake Village, Nelson, BC
One hundred year-old forests on 450 acres of pristine landscape. Breathtaking views of Kootenay Lake. Alpine peaks of the Selkirk and Purcell mountain ranges in the distance. It’s no wonder that Kootenay Lake Village, one of British Columbia’s premier real estate developments marketed by Blueprint Global Marketing, a strategic alliance with Sotheby’s International Realty, sold out on the first day of its release.
Fortunately, there are still several unique waterfront opportunities for those who yearn to escape to lake and mountain living- from cabin lots with water views to expansive lakeside estate homesites.…

It’s easy to see why Revelstoke Mountain Resort is poised to be the next Aspen or Vail. The Resort boasts North America's highest lift-serviced vertical, an abundance of champagne powder snow, and the exclusivity of being the only resort in the world to offer Lift, Cat and Heli skiing from one Village base.
It’s no small feat, but with over $200 million invested to date a solid foundation has been laid, paving the way for the continued development of North America’s ultimate four-season resort. State-of-the-art gondolas and chairlifts are turning, the village is buzzing with exciting restaurants and retailers, a brand new signature golf course is planned, and the attractive real estate offerings suggest a resort that is destined for success.
The initial…

Gambier Island homeowner Bruce Ramus says the design inspiration for his elaborate house came from a few icons: the Japanese temple, the native longhouse — and rock band U2.
To look at the house, which sits on 1.25 acres on Gambier Island in Howe Sound, the Japanese temple design is obvious. There are even peace bells hanging beneath the steep roofline. Inside, the giant vertical pillars create a feeling of cathedral-like height and light, and speak of the longhouse tradition. But other than a giant replica of a green olive lying out back — a leftover prop from…

This part of British Columbia is nicknamed the "Napa Valley of the North," and comparing it with California's winemaking region fits. The Okanagan Valley has emerged as Canada's premier winemaking region and offers amenities associated with wine-country living: sweeping views, wonderful produce, gourmet restaurants, fair weather and many second homes.
There are differences, however: "Napa does not have the lakes we do," says Christa Frosch, who heads the Okanagan Collection and the Vineyard Collection for Sotheby's International Realty in Vancouver, which is a 240-mile drive away. "We have five major lakes and a lot of beaches and waterfront homes."
Another big difference is golf. The Okanagan area has nearly 40 courses and has been one of the…

Crescendo is a high-tech and environmentally friendly Smart home that would make Microsoft and Greenpeace smile, says listing agent Christa Frosch of Sotheby’s International Realty Canada. “Computer-integrated lighting, audio/visual and climate controls are at your command via touch panels in each room, and geothermal energy heats every surface, including the garage.”
The house, embedded into the mountain’s granite base, is designed to be an extension of the mountain, she says. “The design follows the mountain’s contours throughout its split-level design. Its sleek and modern design, high-tech features, open rooms and expansive views make this a home to remember.”
At 5,400 square feet, Crescendo comfortably sleeps 22 in an unbeatable slope-side location…

To heck with conformity-- Bishops Walk is going modular.
As if to play second fiddle to the magnificence of the surrounding natural beauty, Visten Homes has created modular home designs that will blend with the uniqueness that is Saltspring Island, B.C.
Located off the coast of Vancouver Island, Saltspring is home to a unique community of artists and individuals who have chosen to live there because of its beauty and unspoiled natural charms.
The 12-hectare Bishops Walk project has been master-planned by developer Three Point Properties to complement a spectacular setting perched on the slopes of Mount Belcher above the village of Ganges.
In all, there will be 29 homes at Bishops Walk and as many as 26 could be Visten homes on lots ranging from 1/10th to…

The fall in the Okanagan Valley brings to life some of the region's boldest and most iconic imagery. Symmetrical rows of bountiful vines bursting with blue, red, grey and purple fruit create flowing patterns on the hillsides. Indeed, it's almost impossible to tell which is a deeper shade of blue -- the endless sky overhead or the glittering lakes below.
Add the heady buzz from sampling merlot or pinot gris -- and you might think, "Wouldn't it be great to own a vineyard, sometime?"
Now in its 29th year, the Okanagan Fall Wine Festival not only highlights the region's award-winning wines: It extends the "real estate season" by another six weeks or so past summer's unofficial ending on Labour…
