Lake & Mountain Living

Kootenay Lake Village, Nelson, BC

One hundred year-old forests on 450 acres of pristine landscape. Breathtaking views of Kootenay Lake. Alpine peaks of the Selkirk and Purcell mountain ranges in the distance. It’s no wonder that Kootenay Lake Village, one of British Columbia’s premier real estate developments marketed by Blueprint Global Marketing, a strategic alliance with Sotheby’s International Realty, sold out on the first day of its release.

Fortunately, there are still several unique waterfront opportunities for those who yearn to escape to lake and mountain living- from cabin lots with water views to expansive lakeside estate homesites.…

The Resort boasts North America's highest lift-serviced vertical, an abundance of champagne powder snow, and the exclusivity of being the only resort in the world to offer Lift, Cat and Heli skiing from one Village base.

It’s no small feat, but with over $200 million invested to date a solid foundation has been laid, paving the way for the continued development of North America’s ultimate four-season resort. State-of-the-art gondolas and chairlifts are turning, the village is buzzing with exciting restaurants and retailers, a brand new signature golf course is planned, and the attractive real estate offerings suggest a resort that is destined for success.

The initial…

It comes fully furnished and has wine-tasting and theatre rooms, an outdoor hot tub and a grand piano.

But, as Liz Forster, managing broker at Sotheby’s International Realty Canada, explained to KTW, the hefty price tag is all about the view.

She said it’s…

Owning a country estate is something most of us can only dream of. Especially for those of us who can’t even afford a cottage. Still, it’s nice to dream.

For those with the means, now is a good time to be looking for a luxury home in the country. There’s a wide selection and would-be sellers appear to outnumber would-be buyers.

Several country estates with lengthy price tags are for sale in Ontario. They include one for $24-million surrounded by 150 acres of woodland near Toronto.

Another, priced at $18-million, is on a bluff overlooking the St. Lawrence River in the Thousand Islands.

An even higher price — $27-million — is being sought for a mansion on a secluded stretch of waterfront on Lac des Deux Montagnes, just west of Montreal.…

Another, priced at $18 million, is on a bluff overlooking the St. Lawrence River in the Thousand Islands.

An even higher price -- $27 million -- is being sought for a mansion on a…

A temple framed by nature and rock ‘n roll

Bruce Ramus used to direct the U2's stadium concerts. He poured some of the proceeds - and some of the lessons learned - into a 1,900 sq. ft. home made almost entirely of old-growth cedar

Gambier Island homeowner Bruce Ramus says the design inspiration for his elaborate house came from a few icons: the Japanese temple, the native longhouse — and rock band U2.

To look at the house, which sits on 1.25 acres on Gambier Island in Howe Sound, the Japanese temple design is obvious. There are even peace bells hanging beneath the steep roofline. Inside, the giant vertical pillars create a feeling of cathedral-like height and light, and speak of the longhouse tradition. But other than a giant replica of a green olive lying out back — a leftover prop from…
