SPLASH

Posted by Sothebys International Realty Canada on Monday, February 15th, 2010 at 3:51pm.

Held on Saturday, October 17th at the dramatically transformed Performance Works on Granville Island, Splash 2009 was a brilliant success. Celebrating its 27th year, this signature event raised more than $360,000 in net proceeds for Arts Umbrella!

Over 500 guests attended this sold out event, which featured a stunning collection of high calibre artwork and was one fabulous party. Prior to the Live Auction, guests spent time in the chic gallery setting viewing art and savouring canapés by Culinary Capers Catering and wine courtesy of the Sotheby’s Vineyard Collection. In the Rohde & Leisenfeld Lounge they were treated to tantalizing cocktails courtesy of Goldfish Pacific Kitchen while they had their picture taken in the event-branded photo booth for fun take-away photos.

Guests had an opportunity to win the amazing raffle grand prize, a pair of his & hers wristwatches from the Tiffany Grand Collection courtesy of Tiffany & Co. as well as a selection of other elegant prizes. Gourmet popcorn was handed out as guests found their seats for the auction and enjoyed a lively performance by Arts Umbrella Senior Dance Company.

With the help of Honorary Auctioneer Barry Scott, guests bid competitively on the live and silent auctions ensuring a staggering amount of works surpassed their estimated values. Hot items of the night proved to be Splash newcomers Fred Herzog and Chris Langstroth as well as favourites such as Ross Penhall, Athena Bax and Lawrence Paul Yuxweluptun and long-time supporters Gordon Smith, Judson Beaumont and Ken Mayer.

After the auctions closed, guests enjoyed decadent desserts compliments of La Baguette et L’Echalote and danced into the late evening with tunes by DJ Reign of the The Beat 94.5 FM.
