Crescendo is a high-tech and environmentally friendly Smart home that would make Microsoft and Greenpeace smile, says listing agent Christa Frosch of Sotheby’s International Realty Canada. “Computer-integrated lighting, audio/visual and climate controls are at your command via touch panels in each room, and geothermal energy heats every surface, including the garage.”
The house, embedded into the mountain’s granite base, is designed to be an extension of the mountain, she says. “The design follows the mountain’s contours throughout its split-level design. Its sleek and modern design, high-tech features, open rooms and expansive views make this a home to remember.”
At 5,400 square feet, Crescendo comfortably sleeps 22 in an unbeatable slope-side location close to Big White’s main village, she says. “At the corner of Hummingbird Run and Gondola Way, the location is second to none. Big White is the second largest ski resort in B.C. with Western Canada’s largest night-ski area.”
Big White is a family-oriented mountain with the economic and business base of Kelowna nearby, she says.
Outdoor features include a 12x16-foot chlorine-free jetted pool heated to hot tub temperatures. Half of the pool is indoors, and half is out, with access to both without swimmers leaving the water. The pool’s outdoor perimeter is heated to snow-melt temperatures. A swim gym is offered for stationary laps.
Indoor highlights include double convection ovens, an eight burner and griddle cook top, an island that seats six and a dining room that accommodates 16. The theatre room has a 72x96-inch screen and direct connect for computer presentations.
The top floor is devoted to a master suite, which has an unobstructed mountain view. The tub in the ensuite bathroom overlooks the great room. Two guest bedrooms with private ensuite bathrooms, a ski entry with a ski locker and a laundry room with two sets of commercial washers and dryers are other highlights.
Whether for use as an executive rental or a personal retreat, Crescendo offers the ultimate in luxury living and entertaining at Big White, Ms. Frosch says. “It’s been used mainly as a corporate retreat and by Australian families on vacation and groups from the United States.”
