Mont-Tremblant
Nestled in the heart of the oldest mountain chain bordering Quebec’s largest National Park, Mont-Tremblant, a lively four-seasons mountain and lake side community is 1.5 hours north of Montreal and 2 hours east of Ottawa. Water meets the mountains in this unparalleled year-round destination renowned for it’s skiing, golfing and water sports. Boasting a rich historical and cultural background, Tremblant was first made popular as an alpine village in the late 1930’s, by legendary skier Joseph Ryan. Accessed initially by the famous railway, Le P’tit Train du Nord, Tremblant was a sought after destination for American and Canadian families. In 1991, the mountain was purchased by the Intrawest corporation, world leader in experiential destination resorts, and transformed into Tremblant, a popular year-round mountain destination complete with hotels, boutiques, restaurants, cafés and spas. With two of three Intrawest villages built, 2800 lodging units, 94 ski and snowboard runs, 13 lifts, 625 acres of skiable terrain, championship golf courses and a 1500 square kilometre National Park, an incredible nautical center, Mont-Tremblant is undoubtingly a region which reflects economical and cultural diversity. A planned $ 1-Billion expansion over the next ten years places Tremblant among the largest tourism project presently underway in North America.
Mont-Tremblant: Three Distinctive Areas
Mont Tremblant is divided into three distinct areas. First, we have the Intrawest mountain resort, modeled after Old Québec and pedestrian European mountain villages, with it’s numerous hotels, restaurants, boutiques, cafés and spas. Secondly, the historical village which is a revival of traditional ski towns, bustles with inns, B&B’s, art galleries, cultural events and outdoor activities. And thirdly, the downtown core of St-Jovite/ Tremblant which clearly represents the traditional small town Québec, and offers an array of services lined along the main street. Tremblant is strategically located between important economic centers such as Toronto and New York and is now connected to these two cities by way of daily flights bound for the recently opened Mont Tremblant International Airport.
